The Architecture Thread...

yea i go into architecture because i had like to draw and i liked house, but my first love and still is, are drawing and cars. I really wanted to get into industrail engineering or something to where i can design cars for a company or something, but architecture is fine

what discipline of architecture? Landscape = a joke. Might as well be a gardener.

I will say with confidence a good 87% of "architects" are know nothing douchebags and/or flaming ****'s with a major chip on their shoulder. Please don't become another. However, BIG +1 to the abundance of hawt bishes that work at arch firms :O

Most are beauticians -- meaning NOTHING is buildable...it just looks good on paper. I have to make those buildings buildable as a civil designer/engineer (working with the structural eng. the "architect" just gets in the way and *****es about cost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif )

They design space layouts, window placements & decide what material to use on counter tops...it's BS. No job security what so ever. Arch Firms will stick to one job for a year then lay everyone off after it's built because they have nothing lined up for the future.

If you like designing buildings and want to be part of major projects...go for structural engineering. Seriously.

the "tedious work like the math" etc = engineering. totally different
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/word.gif.64b12e39f936af3b4fff38a1c0bd0244.gif

even though architechs have to have a working knowledge of physics. Its usually us engineers that have to shoot down all the fancy pantsy Ideas that those crazy architechs have.
werd! and most aren't even "fancy"....just another standard block inserted from the architectural desktop™ in autocad

Anybody else on here architecture majors? If so mabye list your school, how far along you are and mabye a project that your working on...
I go to a community college in reno with a killer architecture program, because im paying for my own school, and its less than half the cost of universitys, then when i finish the 2 year program, ill transfer to UNLV for the rest of the degree.

Im only about a year into it right now. Im working on "Architecture inspired by insects" right now. It has to have a disaster relief purpose. I think ill pick a ladybug, and for the body ill make a clear geodesic dome, for a gym and shelter, and the legs will be like clinics, childcare, supplys, ect. It looks cool in my mind.
working on my landscape architecture a.a and start my on thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif F-CK WORKING my *** off just to make the next man richer:up2somet:

landscape IS a joke, no argument there.

I will rephrase the 87% comment and leave it at: 100% of architects i've worked with DIRECTLY are know nothing douchbags and/or flaming ****'s with a major chip on their shoulder. Guessed on the other 13% being I have heard positive words about 5 or 6 in my career.

NOTHING is buildable, garunteed. Without structrual and civil engineering, it's just some lines on a piece of paper. Simply put, you can not build a **** thing they put out without some major tweaking on other disciplines end.

They do design space layouts, window placements, and b2tch and moan about materials to make it "pretty" even though they don't have the budget for it. It's up to the other disciplines to make that building constructable. that's the bottom line.

Look at any architectural firm's professional tenure and tell me how many jobs they can work on at once. Not many. Most every firm (out here anyway) works on one project/development at a time and can not take on more because their entire staff is hung up with the one project. When it's done, then what? They lay people off. & that's why Heresy is 100% on point when he says their unemployment rate = high.

BKF = one of the most respected firms here, look them up and check out their track record.

lmao i thought i heard that name somewhere //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

sry fellas, looong day fixing another bonehead plan. arch thought the building would look better with buttresses protruding from the building as bumpouts...did us the "favor" of "fixing" OUR drawings and resubmitting to the city for approval //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif dumbass failed to realize (EVEN THOUGH WE TOLD HIM 3 TIMES BEFORE) you can NOT have those buttresses there without demo'ing every single utitily line and moving them at least 3' from the face of it (which, yes, it's now drawn up on our civil plan with them going straight through a high voltage, sanitary & a domestic water line). monday is going to be fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
