Anybody else on here architecture majors? If so mabye list your school, how far along you are and mabye a project that your working on...

I go to a community college in reno with a killer architecture program, because im paying for my own school, and its less than half the cost of universitys, then when i finish the 2 year program, ill transfer to UNLV for the rest of the degree.

Im only about a year into it right now. Im working on "Architecture inspired by insects" right now. It has to have a disaster relief purpose. I think ill pick a ladybug, and for the body ill make a clear geodesic dome, for a gym and shelter, and the legs will be like clinics, childcare, supplys, ect. It looks cool in my mind.

i faked being an architech once to impress a girl.

When I was growing up, I wanted to be an architect. Never made it that far, however, I do use AutoCAD to make a living. I have received an Associates in Applied Sciences from ITT Technical College. I have done some structural design for about a year. Designed tilt wall panels for a Hobby Lobby somewhere in Texas, very tedious job. I am currently a Project Engineer at a respectable neon company. There I design the neon signs that everyone sees in your local bars or the neon OPEN signs that are for sale at Sams Wholesale.

I never was that interested in the field, and the unemployment rate for architects is pretty high compared to many other majors. However, I actually have an architecture consulting company that is interested in possibly hiring me after graduating. So, go figure.

the idea of it sounds great.. draw some pictures of buildings and make a bunch of money.. but the actual tedious work like the math and making sure people wont be killed.. that sounds sucky.

the "tedious work like the math" etc = engineering. totally different

Yeah architects are more the design aspect, but I am very good at physics and math, so hopefully i wont casue engineers too many problems.

I know the feild is iffy as far as job outlook and such, but i couldent decide what i wanted to do, so i kinda just picked something, and oce i got into it i found i was really interested, if i wanted to do something boring where i could always be gauranteed a boring job, i could have. But happiness is more important to me than money.
