I was just wondering, what is the use of these test tone/test tone cds? Is there any reference web site that explains the purpose of the different tones, and the benefit of playing tones/noises/digital silences through your speakers? thanks

I went to find some digital silence because I wanted to investigate some noise I have been hearing on my speakers. I was just curious how I could utilize these tones to improve my set up overall.

Its like a hissing. Ive heard of alternator whine, but since it occurs even when the car is off I have ruled this out..

tones are cycles.

Hertz = cycle

so 1Hz = 1cycle
