Test bench for your home?

Can you solve it?
I want to start learning how to make boxes a bit more and I want to set up a test bench in my basement to fire up the subs before I take them out to the car (its cold here right now) so is there a cheap and easy way to set up the needed voltage for a spare amp so I can plug in subs and test them?

Besides plugging them into the wall socket //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

How long does the battery last before you have to recharge it? Also, how do you recharge it? I don't have a battery charger.

GREAT idea though! Didn't think of that and its the most obvious one.

The best way is to get yourself something like this. (though I would not buy from that seller....just using that listing for an example //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif)
That looks like what I need. I like the battery idea, but I would have to buy a charger and this would cost less in the end.

Thanks everyone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? If you are only looking to test subs, you really don't need a lot of power and could get by with a small 4ohm plate amp from Parts Express. They also carry the Pyramid power supplies. If you can find a small home amp that will work at the impedance that you need, that is a really simple way to go as well.

Basically after I install a sub into a box I just want to run some power through it to hear it. So I would want it to play a low freq. so I can listen to it move.

The home stereo idea is most likely good enough as well and I'm sure I have some laying around here.
