When im here in the us i have a dodge diesel and an acura rl. In germany i have an 05 mb s600, and my wife has an 05 sl600. Big mb fans.

you live in the us and germany? nice! I am just a hardcore nut hugger of german/european cars. 80s and 90s are my favorite.

My family is almost all in germany. Im there 4-6 months a year. The rest the year im in the us, yes. I used to have an 88 420sel. Much more of a benz fan, personally.

Family obligations in germany related to our family business (we own one of the largest iron foundries in germany) and i come to the us because i was born hrre, have friends, family, etc. here. Us is my home, germany is a "working vacation" of sorts.

I still walk on Si's lol. I've raced many Si's, and RSX-S and it's always been the same outcome.
I dont just have a regular Ion so you know.

09 Si's were rated at 197 hp stock, mine was underated at 205 hp stock...people have dynoed 210 to 215 whp stock from my car.

Im doing my rl sq build.. I dont want to mess with the electronics in the Mercedes's, and i dont care enough about my dodge diesel, LOL.
In the RL im doing:

Eclipse DD unit with harddrive based nav

Diamond D7 amps, modified by some of the original engineers that designed them for Esoteric,

Focal Utopia BE components,

Infinity Kappa perfect 10 in a fiberglass box.. Ive got all the equipment, just gotta get time to install it all.

Viper smart start and alarm,

Rear view camera

Backup sensors

Also, have a full custom interior, heated/ac and massage seats front and rear, alcantara headliner and door panels, etc. Im currently piecing together a newer model front clip, updated rear bumper and taillights.. Also, I have completely rebuilt the suspension, and installed some European Direct Market H&R lowering springs.

I also bought a reclining rear seat out of a wrecked Legend in Japan, and am having that shipped to me to be recovered and installed.

Holy crap! Sounds awesome! That is going to be one great sounding SQ system! Can't wait to see the build log on that one.

I would be nervous to about opening up the Mercedes electronics since they are always so far ahead of other companies. They have a million computers and sensors. I would be nervous to wire into all of it.

A reclining rear seat? Like the seats in a Maybach?

Mercedes Actually used Fiber Optics in a lot of the vehicles of my generation, so ya...
Ill post a build log starting fairly shortly with tons of pics! Yes reclining rear seats like the maybach has (My s600 has them as well, as do many new lexus's and some Bmw's. ) They are kinda useless, but the RL/Legend crew is all about doing stuff like that, so im trying to build it to stand out at get together's!

How would someone go about it with a car that uses fiber optics? Running all new wire? Or convert it?

Really? I didn't realize so many companies started jumping on board. Reclining seats is such a luxary I figured it was best left for the Maybach, Benz and rolls royce. But you do have an S class. Which is the highest mercedes class without getting a Maybach. (yes I know they discontinued maybach)

Mercedes has had them since the early 80's at least. (The 560 SEL had them) they are cool, in the RL they are fairly useless as the back seats dont have much room, honestly. It really is just to set my car apart at shows.

all the way back in the 80s they had the full reclining seats. Just like a seat in 1st class on an air plane? Because that is what I heard the maybachs seats are like.

the early mb ones had the whole rear bench recline. very primitive compared to the maybach.

I never knew. But Now I am going to go youtube that. Because that sounds too cool

us models. those seats are factory, but out of a parts car...
