Yeah, I do recall the last iteration of the beast with its jbl gear, and it was louder than the PPI setup, but the PPI setup just has that magic for me. Matter of fact, I thinknit was the jbl version when I saw it. Didn't it even have a kicker L7 iteration too? Tell me youre kidding dude!!! Alma Gates, the world SPL record holder for many years with the PPI ford bronco. It had 48 PC-21400's ( i think that was the amp) and 48 of the the flat piston pro subs in a dual compression horn setup

The coolest part about Alma's setup (to me) was that the team used underhung drivers with tiny (fucking tiny) coils to generate all that pressure. Purely riding on the sensitivity thing. I mean, the hydraulics to pull the doors in tight and all the other fortification was impressive. But if everyone could see how tiny that coil was, they would realize it was truly a scientific approach to achieving that goal. Right down to using the PPI phase modules to align the drivers. Big deal back then.
