TC2 subwoofers? what are these

The TC2 is a motor, built by TC Sounds.

Soundsplinter RL-i's, certain Eclipse models, and Stryke Audio have all used this motor structure...and yes, drivers derived from TC2 designs are usually very good values //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A "driver" IS the subwoofer. Just another name. A "driver" is basically any speaker. Kind of like calling a vehicle an automobile. They are the same thing, just two different names to call them by.

The TC2+ is a driver (subwoofer) designed by TC Sounds, who are an OEM buildhouse (i.e. they design and build subwoofers for companies like Eclipse and Soundsplinter). It's what is called a "base driver", or a predesigned subwoofer that those companies they build for can take, make a few tweaks to if necessary, slap their label on and sell under their own brand name. Such is what Soundsplinter does.....the TC2+ is what the Rl-i is based off of (actually, I do not think SS made any changes from the "base" TC2+)

I realize what a driver is, but I could not bring myself to remember the word, so I used driver. That is quite the technical explanation, everything I was looking for. You forum guys are quite informed.

Do you know of any high-end local audio places that I may be able to test out some of this equipment to compare/contrast? Bestbuy employees are ignorant and just preach what theyre told (the consumers are even more ignorant...i feel like chimin in sometimes but I wouldnt want a 17 year old pinchin off some of my commission). They also only have Alpine units. The people over at Ovation are snobby...and also only carry Alpine, lower end pioneer/kenwood products. The people over at Classic Stereo off of State, seemed the most informed but mostly over mainstream products.

Ive gone everywhere I think, and Ive only been able to try out the 9855, no eclipse, 9835, or pioneer premier...let alone any high-end components, subwoofers

Ovations used to have some nice units on display, such as the Boston Z6 series and higher end JL subs. I know a guy that works over there.....so they aren't snobby to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Classic used to carry Eclipse and should have Pioneer Premier on display. I know here recently they've done some pretty big inventory changes....but I thought they still had those two. I have an 8053 in my car if you wanna play with it sometime (that sounded really bad......)

Chris Norris (big time SPL competitor) just opened a shop on W. Colliseum, though last I was in there he didn't have anything hooked up you could demo...and he was only carrying DEI products.

Then there's that other place on W. Colliseum....Custom Audio maybe? They don't really have much for demo either, atleast high end product wise.

They went away, and sold the rest of their stock on SIN //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Purdy drivers, it was a shame to see them go...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif
