well i don't mind him pming me to ask what i was looking for. He wanted to know if I was wanting everyday use or comp or both. So he told me about what he recommended and gave me a price if I was competing. He wasn't trying to push them on me or make me buy them so to me it is no big deal it was actually a lot of help. I asked people on here and some were cool about it and gave me suggestions and then I had the others who wanted to talk shit about what everyone else had compared to what they have. My orig. msg was needing help with what to try. I should have listed it as EVERYONE FIGHT OVER WHO HAS BETTER SHIT.

I understand your point, and I dont believe the person/employee had bad intention, but this forum should not be a place for that type of thing imo. Manufacturers recommending their products here, publicly, is one thing... but to PM people about their products unsolicited is a bit like getting a sales call on your home phone line.
If I were to make a thread asking what subs to buy, I would not want to start getting PM's from sales people trying to sell me their product. One guy/company doing it might be helpful, even informative... but what if they all started doing it? Or should we only think its okay when one or two do it?

Keep the sales pitch public, unless otherwise asked for. I dont think that's unfair to expect.

If it was an employee from Fi suggesting Fi products, my reaction would be the same, if that's what you mean.
Maybe it was just an individual. But if the Cascade thing a while back showed anything, its that employers should make their employees aware that they represent the company when they respond on these boards. Its not hard to figure out, if you are an 'insider', someone working in the industry, you have to consider your words and actions a bit more carefully on these boards.

There is a fine line between making your company available to the population for information, or just making your presence into a commercial for your products. Im not even saying this RD person did that, I didn't read the PM, Im just saying that's borderline territory in my book.

I run a sub with a TC9 motor and it just seems to short for the coil Im using (Fi recone) I do Plan to use a Sundown recone so hopefuly I will have a better opinion on the motor after the recone, but as of now I say its OK. Im all for manufacturer participation in this board. You, for example, are a delight to have here. I just think it would be in poor taste if someone working for RD was running around PM'ing people who start 'what to buy' threads.
