i am currently running a pair of 12 inch tc sounds tc9's off a sundown saz-1500d (1500w rms) amp. im fairly satisfied with the subs but am looking for something new.

how would the type r perform to the tc9? im really big on setups that can play loud down low

edit: btw i know there are many other subs in the price range of the type r, its just i get them for half of retail at work. (otherwise i would probably upgrade to a higher tc sounds sub)

I would consider that and upgrade IMO if your looking for getting low and loud compared to the tc9.

do you happen to have personal experience with both? im not saying i doubt your opinion theres just A LOT of hype about the type r's and im hoping its more than that

Eh, I would prefer the TC-9 over the Type-R. I havn't had experience with the TC, but I have with the R. And personally, I think they are good budget woofers, but if you get two 12s, I wouldn't suggest it. That's just me. aesthetically as well, the TC wins in that regard.

i've handles a couple type r's before but no real comparison tests. the tc9's are beasts comparison as far as look/feel. the hype of the type r is honestly what got me so interested in them. if people with experience with both believe they will outperform the tc9's then its time to go subwoofer shopping.

thanks for your guy's comments..keep em comming!

sorry it took so long for a reply, but a friend of my brothers has a 15 type r on 900 watts and my brother has a tc2000 on around 1000, the 2000 has the tc-9 motor, and IMO it got a lot louder, and a lot lower. The type r got plenty loud, and sounded very good, but It didn't come close to the tc2000 on low end extension and spl not to mention the great sq of tc subs. So I would think an upgrade to the tc-9 would be the type x

Well I havent heard one personally, but i know that many people usually put that in compasrison tests with the likes of the w7 and other higher output woofers. Now the type r does get loud, but from my experience under the ideal conditions the tc-9 is louder, lower and has better SQ. How many watts do you have going to the tc-9 now?

never heard a tc-9. either sub in the correct enclosure can get **** loud. i'd prolly upgrade to an lms-4000 or something that is made to get low if thats what you want

im running a sundown saz 1500d @ 1 ohm so ~1500watts. at the moment im running the two 12's in a prefab sealed box 1.25cuft each. they get pretty low but now im starting to listen to nothing but low bass ie: bass i love you bassotronics and it makes me crave more. im starting to hear the mechanical limits of the woofers.
