Hey all been out of the game for a while (drove a motorcycle/didnt have a car for a while). Well im about to get another car, probably an 02 mits eclipse gt. Anywho I have a hard decision. I want to lean more towards SQ although I wouldnt mind being able to crank it loud. So Ill have about 1.5k to work with watt wise and was wondering should I go with a 15 LMS-R ported or a RE XXX 18" sealed? Since there isnt a lot of room in these cars and I can get both for same price, I just want some opinions. Thanks

Trey

02 Eclipse eh? Those things can get friggin LOUD. You should take out the backseat, an adult can't fit back there and be comfortable anyway. I would go with the 18.

This dude can fit two 18" LMS subs in his earlier-gen Eclipse with his backseats out.

old xxx or new?
Reading title > you.

Thats an older eclipse, but yea im not trying to get ridiculous loud. Im just trying to get a decent system to bump to with friends and enjoy my music.

trey, when u getting the car? u gotta sell the bike first?

im down to build a crazy box if u want, i got a nice new table saw, and ive been working on some kerf ports. its easier than you think. or maybe lets try a 4th order box for whatever sub u get.

Yea as soon as I sell the bike. Thiskid was supposed to buy it today but might have gotten fired an can't. ****er. So on Monday I'll

Know if it's sold. It's up on craigslist

I cant believe he didn't bother to bolt that box down. You could see the whole thing dancing throughout the video.

i loved my xxx18 but tis just didn't have the motor strenght to be a good contender to blend naturally with most of the components on the market.. the LMS is a great woofer but its LE is approaching the limit a woofer should have if you want a balanced, flat output curve.. all in all if i had to choose for pure SQ purposes it would be the xxx 18 in 4 to 5 cubes sealed.. if i wanted a bit more output id do the lms-r 15 in 2.5 with a PR tuned to around 28hz..
