Did you try calling heather at TC sounds? b/c i've seen several people get custom painted top assemblies from them, im not sure if they still do that but there number is 858-831-0522. there there until 5pm pacific time. They're Very Bias

How the hell am I a Fanboi? TC literally told me that not using their baskets and 10" spiders with spacers would yeild an inferior driver as if my stock TC9 has the capeability to be so linear I needed 10" spiders and spacers to keep the coil in alignment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

That is with the Ti basket only. Not with all baskets. The Ti is a taller basket which needs a longer former and wider spiders. They are not biased, its just fact proven by their testing.

Ever use a TC9 with a Ti Basket?

EDIT: I have owned both a TC9 with a Ti and a 12 spoke....The TC9 with the Ti basket i would not go far as saying its an inferior driver. I would say its xmax capabilities are much greater than that of a 12 spoke. I also put 1800rms on mine playing tones. Didnt bottom out or blow up.After about 20mins of tones we took it to a wall socket. Took about a min for it to blow..

If Xmax has nothing to do with the basket, then why is the new XXX 12" in depth? That kind of movement cant be done on a 12 spoke basket.

there is only so much movement you can get out of a given motor.

You should have stated that then...Those motors are more capable than u think....Until you have used both baskets on the same motor dont think you have any right to say they are biased. Going beyond that, its a product they are trying to sell. They are not saying other drivers are inferior with 8" spiders, they are saying their drivers are inferior with 8" spiders (unless i mis understood what you were saying in a prior post).

well, thats very interesting reading here... either way- i called tc today, they are going to get back at me tomorrow about the painting... im also gonna see what other options i can get if i have them make it.....

how much more do I have to state it?

I wanted a recone kit similar to the IA DP soft parts (SPL oriented) for a stock TC9 on a 15" 12 spoke basket. They told me that they wouldnt do that (though they could) because it would be inferior to their new baskets with the 10" spiders and the yadda yadda yadda.

The TC9 isnt even tall enough to keep the coil in the gap moving forward and not hit the backplate moving backward before the cone/spider hit the basket.

There is no difference major in airflow, if there was I'd think the 12 spoke would win. Basically they wanted me to buy a more expensive basket and soft parts for no reason. That would be Bias.

On top of that, they have openely questioned other comapny's designs. They make good motors but they act like their designs are the only right ones.

they do have a bit of an ego... however, i love the eclipse baskets, and they do make top notch quality products.... i dont like the way they act as CBFryman2 stated, though
