Tantrum 1200.1

I have a problem. I bought a 1200.1 Tantrum from squeak12 off this forum. I hooked it up. It shuts off when you turn the volume not even half way. Bass boost if off. Gain not even 1/4. I have 4 guage wire from my battery to the amp.

I tried using a dmm but it wouldnt read anything but a short burst up to like 89 volts(THAT WAS WITH THE GAIN ALMOST ALL THE WAY UP).If you turned the gain down it wouldnt read anything.

I have it hooked up to a 2 ohm sub to produce a 4 ohm load

are you positive its the amp and not the install?

Umm well i just unhooked my phoenix gold titanium 600.2 and slapped that amp in its place and the titanium worked great.

Ok now the amp will just power up and not play music.

I just tried testing the amp again. I tested my rca first they were good. Turned all crossovers off. Bass boost off. Sub sonic filter off. Gain set all the way to minumum. I unhooked all other amps etc. Turned my H/U to 25/50. I played a

50hz tone with the sub hooked up. I slowly increase the gain and nothing.

He said it worked. He did tell me it had been fixed by K&B a few months ago. I figured since it had been fixed it worked fine.

Im not jumping to conclusions yet, after all I just recieved it today. I havent spoken to him yet. Im pretty sure the warranty that K&B has is 90 days, if so the amp might be covered. Except maybe a few bucks for service.

that thread was made on 10/14...so if indeed it was repaired he SHOULD still have a little more then 1 month left on the warrenty....if he says he lost it n shit go get em....he sold you a broken amp..

Ok I talked to Chris and he wrote this when I asked what they fixed.

It didnt say what they fixed. He said that they will warranty it as long as the 'tripat' didnt go out. I dont know what that is though. Ill send you another when he tells me what all needs to go on the box so they will know its warranty. Is it still hooked up in your car? If so...give a little tap on the amp with a blunt, non conductive something. Tap it around the power supply area. I think its got a loose solder around there but Im not sure or not.

Since it was like this when I recieved it. And in no way can you beat on an amp to make it work like he told me to do. I should be entitled to a redund. Right guys?
