Ready to pull the trigger for a 12" sub, will need to go into a small sealed box, preferably 1.25 cu ft or smaller. Going into a 2014 328i, everything else will remain stock. Putting my SQ Q-1200D into it to push the sub. My first choice, and because I've been dying to try these subs, is Tantric MD. I know Gcon is also a good sub. Would anyone prefer one over the other or would anything else in the similar price/power range that would sound good in a small sealed box? Thanks.

Neither of these subs will sound good in a small sealed box. Not saying they won't sound bad. But both either aren't recommended sealed or need bigger boxes

Optimum sealed volume for a GCON 12 is 1.25-1.5 cubes

Is 1.25 cu ft considered small? So the goal here is to conserve trunk space, but he flips cars regularly, so may want to do a different setup down the road. I want to make sure it sounds good in a smaller box, at least for now. Is ported an option for 1.25 cu ft? So if going sealed in a small box, what would sound best if not these subs?

I'd take a 10 ported over a 12 sealed all day

and a 10" Tantric MD or Gcon would do fine in a 1.25cf ported

This is the kind of feedback I'm looking for. So 10" in a small sealed box. Oh yea, another one I was looking at is Fi SSD. Fi site says this for sealed box recommendation:

Sealed box: H-Qts .2-.4 cuft

Ported box: .6-1.2 cuft @ 33Hz

Is this good? Better than Gcon or MD?

They recommended a 10" driver in a ported enclosure to utilize the same amount of airspace but potentially gain output, but it must have gone right over your head.

If you want a 12" subwoofer sealed, Sundown Audio has a SD2-12" sub

They cost $135 shipped, and that would perform better than any of these subs mentioned SEALED

Okay,

The 10" sub(s) were recommended so you could run it in a ported alignment to gain output and not use any more airspace. That's what you want to do, correct?

So, why are you insistent on running a sealed box? If you're stuck on that, you may as well stick with a 12" driver.
