Talked to DD today - DDZ Things

This thread is sort of a perfect example of why you cannot rely on information that originates at CA.com. This place is just full of editorial. Someone starts off with a post that is actually correct. Other people lie and contradict it. THEN if we are lucky enough, someone who actually knows chimes in and corrects the misinformation. That last part doesn't happen quite often enough. I wish people who DON'T KNOW would just keep their opinion to themselves or state that it's opinion instead of stating something untrue as fact.

Don't believe ANYTHING on the DDZ product page... FYI... it's all made up as a joke.
First sentence... "The Z series represent the pinochle of transducer archeology. " -- there are two "errors" in the first sentence as a joke already.

The DD-Z does not have a "top plate" -- there is an aluminum plate bolted up there... which is a shorting ring / structural part to hold the motor together and mount the basket.

The Z has a steel back plate and steel pillars that come up to the aluminum plate... then the neo magnets are mounted to the inside of the pillars at the top -- the magnetic flux goes from the neo to the pole piece without using a top plate.

IA argues that this leaves spots on the coil which are not immersed in the flux field as the magnets are not touching each other side to side -- there are gaps between the chunks of neo.
Awesome, glad someone posted that knows whats up.

Are you saying i dont know or just talking general consensus of 99% of the shit around here. If its the latter then i x2 that.

Kind of annoying isnt it mlstrass.....people spewing fake knowledge from their melon.
all i can say about this topic, is that i own a pair of wardens.
I own teh warden too, i love it.

honestly both motors are very strong both are excellent woofers.. bother use very powerful magnets.. what DD does thats different is use one side of the magnet thats directly parallel to steel that it magnetizes IE the magnet is the topplate while the other opposite charge still uses steel . either way you have to have steel in the equation..

i have never used ethier and probably won't but its safe to say there both very very powerful motors capable of some serious output.. its basically going to boil down to what woofer you can get most power to in your app...

Are the Warden and Z really comparable? I mean, yea they're both insane subs but I think they're a little too different to really say one is "better" than the other. Idk, I guess I'm saying DD needs to make a 21" Z for under 2k lol then I will compare

alot of it depends on the flux alignment of the magnets themselves, you can buy bias which i beleive has a north-south pole like a normal ferrite magnet, or you and get none bias magnets that are unaligned and pull in all directions. from looking at neo whole salers it appears DD uses a non-bias= less power, and the IA uses aligned bias magnets, but the only way to test it out for sure is to drop a Gauss meter in the gap and see whats better. just my 2 cents.
