Talked to DD today - DDZ Things

I was told that the supposed top plate on the DD Z series subs which has been the cause of arguements between Warden vs. Z stuff if wrong.

Now the thing used to be that the Warden used a steel top plate to focus all Neo energy into the gap and give an even strength into the gap and that the DD z's had an aluminum top plate which cause an inconsistant strength in the gap.

What i was told today by Brad over at DD was that the piece of aluminum on the DD's is not a top plate and the DD Z's do not need a top plate. The piece that appears to be a top plate just stablizes the motor. The way the Z pole piece is designed, they dont need top plates to focus the neo strength into the gap.

Opinions.

my opinion: I owned 2 proto 9918 quadstack DD 18s, i'd love to own some more...DD //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif nom nom nom.

They have a new policy because stupid people would buy recones and mess them up and expect free recone kits.
i think people were reconing konakis with them too... but don't quote me on that, just thought I had heard that before.

Not too far off. I've heard of people buying Konaki subs, using the motor and basket and DD soft parts and basically turning it into a pseudo-DD sub. And it appears DD is a little upset with that.

Yes...the motors are great...but the soft parts are terrible....that's a far strectch from Konaki=DD

My opinion is that he was probably blowing hot air up your ***... I cannot see a sub not using a topplate... there is the stellus topology, but that is a different kind of animal all together, and to the best of my knoledge never took off..

I have no experience with the Z but from the photos I see it sure looks like they use a steel topplate...
