T-Nut question....

When using T-nuts to secure a sub in an enclosure, since you drill right through the baffle would this create a source for a leak in the box? I am building a sealed enclosure for 2 JLA 10TW3's and am considering using them but then this question came across my mind.

Thoughts?

If it's pressed into the wood corectly should be fine. We use grip inserts and they seal fine into honeycomb panels but we are not using them for pressure lol.

I highly doubt it'll leak. If you're that worried about it cover the t nut in glue (i used to do this when i worked on RC planes) so it seals the gap around the t nut where it contacts wood.

i highly recommend leaving the bolt in the t nut while you're tightening the teeth into the box and letting the glue dry - it'll prevent glue from getting into the threads.

just as an assurance when I install T-nuts, i put a little bit of CA glue on the T-nut right where it bites into the wood. the only issue I've had with correctly installed T-nuts is that after the initial install the t-nut would not stay in place.

Awesome thx everyone. This is a whole new adventure for me. I have always had simple stereos with a box thrown in the trunk etc. but this is my first big build where I am attempting fabrication for the system like a full trunk setup with panels and a false floor, petter wiring practices in my impala.......
