System upgrade

Alright, heres the deal. I'm running 2 Diamond Audio 10" D3's off of a D3 600.1 amp. They are in a custom ported box (not sure what dimenions, but done by a good shop), and my head unit is an Eclipse 5425. I'm very impressed with it, and it really bangs for 2 10's.

I've been thinking about upgrading, but i'm not sure what to get. The first step I will do is add another 600.1 amp. I would just upgrade to a 1500.1 D6, but I already have a 600.1 with a lifetime warranty, and it would be easier financial wise to buy another 600.1 from the shop since I already have one, as opposed to dropping 1,000 dollars on a completely different amp. I am going to get the amp from the shop because of the lifetime warranty, but I want to get some new subs off of the internet.

I was thinking either D6's or D9's. My questions are: Is 1200 watts enough to run 2 10" D9's, and do they bump a lot harder than the D6's? And my 2nd question is, assuming I go with the D6's, will the difference be really noticable as opposed to my current setup? I want SQ which I will get with either one of these subs, but I'm looking for SPL more than anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!

Are you installing everything yourself, or are you having a shop do it for you? I like the adding another 600.1 idea but I'd go with one amp because there's less wires to run.

How much are you paying for a 600.1? I wouldn't dish out a grand for 1500.1 or something along that power range.

Thanks!

I'm having a shop do it. The 600.1 from the shop is about $450. Its definately expensive, but thats the only way I can get the lifetime warranty on the amp. If i got the subs there I'd be getting a 3 year warranty, but 600 watts isn't too much power for either of the subs in consideration so i don't really care where i get them, just the cheapest place I can find them.

So money is not a factor for you? Because for that price, you'd be surprised of the amps you can get that would do twice that power, if not more.

I say sell that 600.1 and buy a bigger amp on the forums. Then buy the D9s authorized.

1500 watt RMS amp with a lifetime warranty for $1,200?

s**t, you could just grab a new hifonics that does the same power for 2- something and call it a day. Or an ED NiNe.1, or a JBL 1200.1, or a... the list goes on... if it breaks, buy a new one. faster than sending in, getting it repaired, and waiting for them to send it back, and cheaper overall.

x2... some obnoxiously powerful amps are availible in that price range... FAR less if you grab a used one in good condition.
