SX vs W6V2

I would recommend 2 12 sx's. I personally prefer them over 12w6v2's. As for the SE's I have no experience with them so couldn't tell you, but the sx's have served me well.

Dood

screw JL go with the RE equipment its a good quality product plus we did a head to head SX vs W7 the SX was louder and had a cleaner sound. I've never realy been impressed with JL stuff overpriced i think. also i install RE all day and have never herd a complaint about it in either matter.

hmmm as far as cleaner sound that is in fact subjective. I agree the sx is comparable but to outright say it is cleaner I don't know about that. How did u conduct this comparison?

unless you port the Brahma 15" i doubt you will like the SPL. Hell a single SX 15" ported would probably be your best bet if you want to go SX. THe low end will be alot better and will get just as loud as the dual 12's above 40hz (actually louder than the dual 12's under 40hz) i prefered the SX 15" over the SX 12"

But yeah id say considering price get dual SE 12's or 15's. 15's would probably be awesome. These subs are made to be sealed, so a pair of sealed 15's would be just incredible. Believe me when i say sealed they will blow your head off. and all they need is about 500-600w each and you can get them close to full output.

out of all your choices if it was me i'd do the pair of SE 15's sealed FOR SURE. Small box since it will be sealed, plus you get the "punch" of sealed subs, and they will go SOOOOOO LOOOOWWWW

well dont even bother trying to debate over whether to get a brahma or xxx , get which ever is available because they are so close in comparison. I believe brahmas are on backorder currently if I'm not mistaken. As for those vs the se's I'm not experienced with those so I will just keep my mouth shut and let someone else chime in for that.

I own 2 12 SXs and they have great SQ, If you know how to build a good box that is ported somewhere between 35-27hz they sound real good.

go to that link I gave you and ask scottie. For real, I have been talking with him for awhile now a really honest cool guy to talk with. And you can be sure if you buy it off him you will get your stuff. Ask around about him on here. He is well known, and has sold a good amount of stuff and everyone has been happy with the stuff from him.

i've owned every sub you are contemplating buying.

Brahma sounds better than the XXX (not by much), but these suckers are EASY to blow compared to any other subs i've owned. XXX on the other hand is HARD to blow. Both are not exactly what i'd call super loud subs. I had around 2000w (Orion 2500D) on the xxx for a long time and around 3000w (off of a modded US amps 2000X) on it for a few weeks and it got loud but not nearly as loud as you would think. Brahma didn't like much more than 1200w (off of a Orion xtr1400.2)

SX's get loud, and can handle a bit more power than SE's (like about 1500w compared to about 1000w on the SE) but the SE sounds 100% better than the SX, and not only that but the SE gets louder with less power and sounds better doing it.

SE's will get louder than anything else listed with up to 2000w and sound better that loud than anything else. I love SE's almost as much as the XXX, but they get ALOT louder with regular power.

I've owned 2 SX 15's, 1 SX 12", 2 XXX 15", and 1 12" SE, RE line components, and shorty XXX midbass's (this is all RE equipment). I've also owned 2 10w7's, currently own a 12w7, and have owned a 13w7. Have also owned 1 12w6v2. (and a whole slew of JL's older subs)
So yeah i can relate to your tastes in a way and also have alot of experience with RE and JL
did i miss the part that says which you prefer lol

I prefer the W6v2's over the SX. I prefer the W6v2 over the w7's for SQ, but prefer the W7 overall because they sound almost as good as the W6 but get louder, and are alot harder to blow.

I prefer SE's over SX for every single reason. More SPL with 1000w, and sounds 100% better than the SX.

I appreciate the help. Let me clarify things, The box will be sealed, not ported because its going to be in a big fiberglass enlcosure and dont want to port it. The 3 12's will have around 2k-2400 watts between the 3 subs.

So none of the subs will be getting 1k watts each. Now, how much does that change things?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The 12w6v2's are rated at 400w rms correct?

my neighbor has 1 12w6v2 on a 1000/1 in his Cobra mustang and it handles it fine and it's tuned correctly. I'm running 1 12w6v2 in a slot ported box with only 500rms going to it and it takes it like it's nothing. I think that 3 12w6v2 could handle it if tuned correctly etc. But i did go to a local shop down here in Ga and heard some RE's in a customers car that had 2 of them and it hit hard as hell, but i was expecting so much more the way everyone talks about RE. I think you can't loose either way you go.
