what is a Switchable Subsonic Filter . is it important that an amp have 1. what are its uses . and is it a good idea to buy an amp without 1

i was thinking of getting a e Profile Clarus Series CL800 to push the magnum D2 it does not have a Switchable Subsonic Filter. but the Profile Clarus Series CL1200 has one OFF/20Hz. but the cl1200 rms@900w that may be too much for the D2. the cl800 rms@600W so do the D2's

you really only need a subsonic filter if you are planning on porting a sub and giving it a lot of power...so i'm not sure that it's all that necessary with the CL800.

oh, and by the way, the Magnum D2 will easily take over 600 watts RMS...easily.

A variable sub sonic filter is better than a switchable one because then depending on the frequence your box is tuned tune you can cut the signal so the sub won't bottom out and damage itself.

ok my D2 is in a custom box with 4 ports & 3.3 cuft after displacement tuned to 30Hz. well could u guys please explain the Switchable Subsonic Filter a little more in detail. when u said the D2 will take a lot more power than 600W how high do u think i should go with power . i want this system for daily driving. also if u could suggest an amp under $200 to power the D2 so it will sound good i would really like a class D amp.

I DONT WANT TO BLOW MY SUB I NEED IT TO LAST!!!!!!!!

THANKS

well either one of those profiles will do well with the magnum...you could probably safely go up in excess of 1000 watts RMS with the magnum...but you wont find an amp under 200 to do that. the profiles are very reliable amps for the money...i would stick with them.

what car is this going in? your electrical system might have problems with the cl1200...maybe.

caps lock...

do you know what the size of your alternator is on your car?

amps for 300 dollars to run it? that brings a ton more into play...look at all of the amps @ http://www.edesignaudio.com but it would help to know the size of your car's alternator.

don't worry one bit about running the D2 at well over its RMS...talk to anyone who owns one...

THE Tsunami Amps 1100 WATT DIGITAL POWER AMPLIFIER. IT ONLY GIVES 330 RMS@ 4 OHMS BUT 1100@ 1 OHM

I AM TOLD THESE AMPS ARE UNDERRATED SO IT WILL PUTOUT MORE THAN 1100w. THIS SYSTEM IS FOR DAILY USE DO U THINK I NEED THAT MANY WATTS . I DONT KNOW THE SIZE OF MY ALTERNATOR BUT WHAT SIZE MINIMUM SHOULD IT BE AND WHAT IS A GOOS SIZE FOR IT. HOW MANY AMPS SHOULD IT PUT OUT AT WHAT VOLTAGE IF THAT MAKES SENCE

if you are planning on running that amp, i would make sure that your alternator can handle it...i would want a 150a alt at the least. try looking at the other avionixx models because i dont think that your alt can handle that amp at all.

look at the avionixx AXT 800.2...all will put out more than what they are rated for and would be good matches for the magnum.

i checked the toyota website my alt is 70-80 amp output i think. is there any way i can use the sub without having to get a new alt. or can i get my existing alt rewound or something. if i am to get a new alt do u know how much it will cost .

i would have stuck with your original idea and go with an amp that puts out ~600 watts...it will be perfectly fine and loud with that amount of power. you could go with a profile amp which will do what it says...or you could spend a bit more and go with an avionixx amp.

i personally would save the money an go with the CL800 which will not strain your alternator or anything.

if you can find a place that will rewind your alternator, then do that for sure up to around ~100amps.
