switch to ported?

Right now I have 2 12" Kenwood KFC-W3003 subs in a q loqic bandpass box and was wondering if I put the subs in a ported box that was within their cubic foot and tuned properly would make a big difference in bass that is noticeable? what would a good tuning be for them also?

here are some info from the manual KFC-W3003. Looking at that little graph with the cubit feet I think I'd rather have it closer to 2 then 1.5 like it is reccomended
