SUV Sub setup...

Hey guys. Im looking for a good match for my BX1500D. 1500X1 @1 ohm, 1000x1 @ 2 ohms.. Now, i was thinking of a pair of L7 12"s... Or 1 15" L7. But, again I am up for options. Now, I have a Tahoe. Which is a pretty good size SUV. I am looking to spare about 48Wide x 17High x 22deep. I am terrible with the math and tuning... which is probably why i will have someone make me a box. Now, I figured id ask you guys for opinions. Maybe even a (2 12"TypeR/1 15" TypeR) setup. Looking for more of the SPL side of things, than the SQ. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Do you really want to compete in true spl comps or do you want a system that gets very loud but still sounds somewhat balanced? With a vehicle that large you would have a hard time getting a high score with the subs all the way in the back, that is a lot of air to compress and move. I would look into two 12's ported in a box that is tuned rather low ie: 28-34 hz or one 15 ported and tuned low. This will get loud enough to cause hearing damage and still have the ability to sound good. I would really look into these subs for the money/performance.

i honestly dont think you have enough power for any of the setups you mentioned short of the 15" L7..

they will all still be loud dont get me wrong but no sense in L7s when L5s with that power would get just as loud you knwo what i mean?

i would say figure out if you want 2 12s, 1 15, 1 18, or two 15s first (or whatever combo of subs you decide on, you know what i mean).

also i have a box that i made for my friends tahoe.. i would have to check but i think its 7 or 7.5 cubes, 36ish tuning for a couple comp vr 15s. its a very nice tahoe fit and i dont have much use for it. but getting boxes from one state to another isnt always practical. and who knows what size subs youll end up with anyways. just lettin you know about it though

Hmm.... that sounds pretty good. What are the rough dimensions of it? Maybe if i can locate a good set of 15s... that box might do nicely? Get back to me on that! Thanks!

i want to say something liek 46x17x17.. its at my buddies house if youre interested i can definately measure it out for you and triple check the tuning. pretty decent port area, 3/4 mdf, it would be unfinished on the outside though.. but sanded down nicely and ready for carpet if you decided that thats what you wanted to do.

oh and also, FYI, the combo of that box plus the amt of cone area got that tahoe pretty da.mn loud. we only had liek 800 rms and it wasnt pleasant to keep it cranked up for very long.

i say if you can fit em, then why nto get 2 15s... most poeple cant pull it off.. you can do it and have nice room to spare haha

4 10" for SPL? Think so? I was actually thinkin that... but i want some thumpy. Maybe not as much as the tight punchyness. What do you recommend? Also, YGPM Andon.

I was thinking about 2 15" CVRs... From what i hear it is a pretty good driver. Especially with the amp that i have. I dont want to have to upgrade amps, but looking for some nice SPL.
