I just picked up a 1998 Ford Explorer and i'm excited that i can finally put my Mag 15's in a ported box. Never had a system in a suv before and from my reading the box should be sub up port back. My question is does that set up get a lot louder than sub back port back.I know there are many variables but i'm just trying to get an idea. Also if i go sub up port back does it matter if i put the port in the middle or to the side of the box. Sorry if its a dumb question, just want everything to be right for this install. thanks in advance

I have not tried the sub up port back, because I am very happy with what I have(sig)

the port location should not make much difference as long as it has the space it needs to breath

ive always heard sub up port back gets louder, and i noticed with my last box with my Q which was sub back port back, that it made the hatch rattle like a mofo .

I would do sub back, port back.
PS: It doesn't matter that much where you put the port if the driver is facing up.
i kind of wanted to do sub back port back just so people couldn't see my subs so easily, so thats good. I will have the port to the side then and have the box be 7.5cf (after displacement) tuned to 32hz. I can't wait to see what two 15 Mags will do in the back of my explorer, i am only giving them 1500 rms total but thats enough for me, heck my two Mags sealed off my amp was plenty.
