I read the article and it said that its very rare for maggots/tapeworms to get in brain but its still possible. Immature tapeworms actually TEND to lodge themselves in the eyes, heart, brain, and connective tissue of their host, in which case surgery is often required. Not a rarity at all.
Tapeworms in the brain are like cysts, not the long things you find in a jar in a science class. if the picture was real, those were deffinitely maggots, in which case he would have already had to have some sort of major wound that flies got into.
