Supergauss discussion

The cut-down SMD v.1 that I saw had one coil & a single braking winding up higher on the former.

Ok, so the only coil in the top motor assembly is the braking winding?

 
So if there is just one coil and it is in the gap of the bottom motor structure, what's the point of the top one?

Someone said to just have fixmyspeaker make me a coil with an extra-long former. However, that wouldn't be utilizing the first motor structure at all

 
if only one coil is in the lower gap then it sounds like the sub is a joke or marketing gimmick.

if the single coil sat between the two motors and was pulled toward either, it may help with excursion but you'd think force would be lost. the right way to do it is one coil per motor.

That's what I thought. I'd really like to get a dual split 4" coil and have a neo supergauss/symmetricgauss motor structure built for it.
