******* Sundown's ****

i feel like majority of the members on this board are very pro-sundown, and are not open to anybody else's opinion about any other product.

i've come across many posts of newcomers (like myself [kind of]) asking about recomendations between subwoofer A and subwoofer B and people shut them down all the time because they aren't pouring a **** ton of money into car audio right off the bat.

why is this everyone? lighten up

Why? because sundown is tested and proven. Best customer service you can get. Excellent products that perform 3x better than what they advertise. And great products.
never owned one but i've heard nothing but great things. but what i'm saying is if someone wants to choose between... let's see.. an Alpine Type E 10" or a Rockford Fosgate P1 10", i've just noticed that people will be rude and be like (for example) "screw that, run sundown"

if sundown was in these people's budgets, i'm sure they would've considered it since they are such a big name in car audio now lol

Sundown makes solid products. Maybe that is why they get recommended so much. There are a lot of other companies putting out solid products as well IA, DC, SSA, DD, etc...

Thats the thing about car audio.. New people dont KNOW what they want. An Alpine Type E is gonna still cost you around $100, and literally, if you dont have a dollar over 100 to spend than thats what you should get.

If you are clueless, and just randomly selected Alpine because its a "good brand", then thats when people jump in and say well spend an extra 80$ and get one of the best subs in that price range and you will be much happier.

When I had Type R's, I wished I would have listened to someone and got some DC or even RE subs. But I just simply didnt know what was what so I went with alpine. I dont believe sundown was around then

I don't think the average joe on the street has heard of Sundown yet.

before my current setup i had 2 10" Alpine Type R's.. great subs, but i kinda wish i didn't sell them for 2 12" P3's. i don't think i did the right amount of research before i went out and bought the P3's, and i wish i did

Hell, I would say a majority of people don't know what it is. Unless they are like us (people who use the internet for info on everything) they will just go with alpine/kicker/rockford.

Even the shop around Minneapolis have no idea what Sundown is.

To be honest, it sounds like a ghetto flea market brand if you don't know what it actually is.

Type R's honestly are great subs.. I really did like their SQ, and they were hella reliable. I was just a kid when I had my first pair, 16 years oldish and I fucked those subs so hard and they never quit working. But, the output of the "high class" subs such as SA/IA/DC cannot be matched by a mass produced sub like that.

I have been pretty anxious to hear the new 1000rms Type R's. I have heard great things about them and if I get a new vehicle I will drop some in I think

i never heard of SA before coming to this site, and while i still dont own any SA products, i do plan on building a complete SA system when i have the time to invest in it.

i agree with the customer service is great...Jacob is all over this place and i have seen gone way out of his way to help people.

SA products are not badly priced at all. i have seen numerous people coming in asking for advice here and saying they need a sub for $200 or under... guess what.. alot of SA subs are around that price. so it is a very easy recommendation to tell them to buy SA.

great CS

great product

great price.

orignally i was going to buy all DD subs and amp, but have decided on SA because of what i have seen around here.

That's because Sundown Audio is the current circlejerk. Before them is RE Audio, before RE is Adire Audio and Lambda Acoustics.

Remember a vast majority of car audio people don't come on this forum, there are plenty of other established brands that makes good products. Also another reason that caused the circlejerk is because this forum is filled with teenagers/young adults who doesn't seem to know a whole lot about the history of car audio and blatantly plaster "best ever" on Sundown Audio. They make good products, don't get me wrong, but they're nowhere near the greatest.

Currently there are no internet-based car audio company that's more than 10 years old, and no internet-based companies make a whole product line from headunits to amplifiers to speakers. Without the dustcap every single "internet woofers" looks the same, same blocky amplifiers, the idea of "all performance, no looks" can only go so far in the market because there are plenty of people who can pay a bit more for style. For example, Phoenix Gold's Elite.1 will run you well over $1300, it looks great, it has excellent build quality, it does rated power at 12v but no one here seems to care.

And before anyone whine about "because it cost so much", remember the cheap bastards are the ones who made the manufactures move their production oversea (to lower price), then the same cheap bastards are whining about why stuff isn't made in America anymore. It's a vicious cycle.
