why not go for anIA 20.1

it's 3 times the sundown amp in quality and power.

i compete in SPL

we use amps for short butst.

but some of my team mates have dealt with both

and the IA amps pwn for spl comps

i've never been impressed with anything from sundown or FI

but i have herd alot of good things, just not my choice.

i've seen 2 IA 20's strapped at .25 ohm @ 17 volts play in street beata sundown would burst into flames at the thought of that

the guys trying to power a q with 1kw daily, i'm assuming at 1 ohm. he doesnt need that capability. i'm also assuming he doesnt want to buy 2 alternators, a custom bracket, and 30 batteries.

I'd pick the Alpine because of its physical dimensions. I'd pick the Sundown because its cheaper (if physical size didn't matter).

It would also depend on how I wanted to wire my dual 2ohm sub as well considering you can get either a 1ohm-mono or 4ohm mono load.

i'd still take the sundown cause it'll do about the same power at 1ohm and can be bought for a lot cheaper, and better build quality. although the alpine has better wiring options, but it does cost alot more to. up to you and the power you'll need at whatever ohm load.

sundown-build quality, looks, the fact not alot of people around you would have it.

That is the rated power of both amps, yes. Depends on voltage -- high voltage testing on th 1500Ds strapped @ 1 ohm with a rise to 2 ohms (so 1 ohm each amp) has show as much as 5677 watts from a pair at 17.9 volts rest dropping to 15.5 volts at the reading.

I don't have clamp measurements of the 20.1 in front of me... but I know it is not triple the power. More power, sure, it should do more power as it is a larger and more expensive amplifier. But not anywhere near triple the 1500D.

To say or imply that the 1500D isn't stable low on burps, as jaco has, is also an un-educated statement. My brother did 100+ burps on his at 0.25 ohms nominal each and Robert Eldridge has been burping his at 0.175 ohms nominal. Off hand I don't know the box rise in either setup, but in any event they are real world results.
