Heroes are remembered, but legends never die
Hey guys, its been a while lol. I just got a 11' Dodge Caliber and looking at getting a Sundown X12 instead of my Zv4 15. Trying to keep it simple, small, compact but daily loud as i can get it lol. Have about 2k on tap nominal. What do you guys recommend enclosure size for a loud daily? Im going aero to save on space. Sub up, Port to side givin its a hatch and i know port to side perform pretty well in them.

I'd go 2.5 cf at 30-32hz with a 6 inch aero. You'll need 25-29.5 inches of port length.

Might be more feasible to do sub up port to the rear and get a 90deg elbow and bend the port to fit.

i mean i have a bit of length. Theres like 40 inches in length i can go. ill look into getting an elbow tho, not sure where to find one

Some would say not to bend the aeroports. It’s always better acoustically, in theory, to not have a bend in aeroports, but the port placement becomes an issue In some designs. Since you’re doing a side port, trying to design it without a bend in the port would be my hesitant advice, although I have never had any negative experience in the real world bending an aero port. Doing sub and port firing the same direction almost always requires a bend in the port , and ive never heard anything with my ears that would make me believe that it affects sound much to do a bend of 90 degrees, as long as port area itself is sufficient. I suppose, for the purpose of metering in comps, a rise of a fraction of a decibel makes a difference, so you’d want straight ports, but to my ears, I’ve never had an issue bending aeroports.

Sorry for the double post, I meant to post this in the enclosure section. Mods can delete if needed.

It is an L port. You might as well add three 45's. Add one by the leg of the L and the two that I showed you in my other post.
