sundown vs. skar

I just put a sd-10 in my f150 with 750w and its pretty redonkulous for 1 10" woof(build log coming soon). Couldnt be happier with any of the sundown products I own

so i'm gonna put 2-3(prolly 3) 10's in my s10 standard cab. i'm debating between the sundown SD-2 and the skar audio VD-10. any suggestions on which ones to get? as you can tell i'm shooting for a sub that has a very small box. thanks
Objectively...

The SD-2 uses a 2.5" coil vs. a 2" coil on the VD -- thus higher thermal power handling

The SD-2 has a shallower effective mounting requirement due to it's solid core design (eg: it needs no venting space behind the motor)

GREAT info. i was worried that the sound would be kinda muddy. now the tough decision begins........2 or 3 thats gonna depend on what goes behind my seats comfortably. really gonna shoot for 3. thanks for all the info. most def will not buy skar.......

3 sealed

They all hate on skar because of business practices? Yall are idiots you have no idea what goes on in other businesses and yall have probably never owned a skar product. So you shouldn't be saying don't buy skar based on what everyone else says or what you heard I own skar products and they hold up very well.

why the negativity toward skar?
Half a dozen butthurt loudmouth kids hate the owner.

Really I'm told by a few people in the industry that I respect that he's a good guy and the product is good so I wouldn't take the comments of some internet trolls to heart if there's some compelling reason to buy Skar.

That being said, Sundown has certainly earned a reputation for good customer service and a solid product and I've never been let down by JBL/Harmon/Infinity products either.

Honestly, on that power, I'd see if you could score some shallow-mount IDQ. I assume they'll be closer to the SQ that you're after in your setup based on you currently running Kappa Perfects. And if I were to compare the IDQ to either the Sundown or the Skar, I'd still pick the Image Dynamics. You'll pay a bit more, but you should see some significant gains.

And, FWIW, I used to run a similar setup and have managed to make it look like a midbass driver in comparison to the single ICON 10 I'm using now. Even in a smaller, lower-tuned enclosure, it just performs and performs well. At this point, though, you've gone closer to double the cost of either driver you're considering. It's still worth the added cost. A pair of those on 1.5-2k ported would most likely make you VERY happy
