Sundown saz3000 or crunch gp3000d pro

Lets see um a Sundown 3000d is around 800 new. An IA 40.1 is around 800 new. A zx2500 is around 700 new. All those 3 mentioned put out around 3k watts. Why would a Crunch one be so cheap and actually put out 3k?
Where can i get an IA 40.1 for $800.00 new?

Sounds like you already have your mind made up on the Crunch. For that price it's definitely hard to beat....I'm sure it's a quality amp but I'd personally prefer a Sundown. I've used Maxxsonics products before and I just like Sundown better.

I can tell you from first hand experience, I have OWNED AND RAN BOTH. My Crunch blew up on me...

In short, I say get the sundown.

Here's the explanation.

I have a 15" RE MT as you can see in my sig, I was running a Crunch GP3000D-Pro for about 2 months or so, all was well and I thought it was amazing. After about 2-3 months, the Crunch blew on me. Figured maybe it was just a blown fet, so I changed out the fets. It blew again, this means there was something else blown. Maxxsonics has no online authorized retailers as far as I know, so if your buying online, your screwed. This may not be the case anymore, but I know it was true at one time.

After messing with the GP3k trying to revive it, I decided to put the extra money towards a real amp and pay a real price. I had the money at the time so figured might as well. I ended up going with the SAZ-3000D.

Now, with the sundown, my system is louder to the ear, and definitely to the car (windshields are flexing WAY more then with the crunch). Another benefit is I guess the power is cleaner, I'm not sure really but the sub runs MUCH cooler at full tilt then it did with the crunch. (gains set with a DMM, so don't come back at me with 'clipping' and nonsense.)

Not to mention the Sundown never gets past what I would call warm, even when I first hooked it up and went 2 hours on and off at full tilt, it was still just a bit over the ambient temperature. (I live in FL, I'm saying the amp's heatsink was no more then 110 degrees.) With the Crunch it would get hot enough I couldn't keep my hand on it for more then a couple seconds.

On another note, Sundown TRUMPS maxxsonics in terms of customer service. I tried going through Maxxsonics customer service, and just kept get relayed to people who couldn't help me. It reminds me of Dell tech support. Now with Jacob, I've talked to him a few times and whatnot (asked him questions via PM, email, etc) and he has always gotten back to me within 5 minutes, most of the time less then 1. And I didn't even buy anything directly from the man! He's just a good guy who loves to help and likes seeing his product being used and appreciated. (I bought my amp from Chris at dB-r.com, who also has some of the BEST customer service I've ever seen in terms of sales and warranty. Something crazy was wrong in the amp, it blew after about 10 minutes of play, he told me to send it in, he would take care of it. No questions asked, and he covered shipping, parts, and labor.)

Oh, also, the Crunch GP-3000D MOSFETs are mounted at 90 degree angles to the board, and the soldering they do on them is FAR from the best.

The sundown amps have the FET's mounted at 180 degrees to the board, and the heatsink on the 3000D is much more efficient at dissipating heat (from person experience), and has more heatsink area in total compared to the GP3K. Plus the GP3k mosfet clips are IMPOSSIBLE to remove, and I broke an extra mosfet because of those stupid pressure clips. Sundown uses screws on the clips, not spring-loaded things that took me 4 hours to remove. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

If money is really tight, grab the Crunch GP-3000D-PRO. You won't be disappointed, but it won't be anything life changing. It's a great amp for that price, and does put out around 3K watts. (a bit more if I recall)

If you've got a bit of money to throw around, by all means go after the Sundown. Not everybody has the money for an $800 amp though.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to add and probably the biggest reason I will look to Sundown for my amplifiers from here on out is the efficiency.

My Crunch GP-3000D at full tilt dropped to 12.7V, and was not as loud as the Sundown.

The sundown at full tilt drops to 13.5, and is louder then the crunch.

You decide..

i was a witness to both of x2o's test..he speaks the trruff
Thanks yo I was just about to point something about in regards to that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

When I say the Sundown was louder, I mean to other people. Obviously not my own ears since I'm sure my opinion would be biased. It's been louder to several OTHER people, so don't think I'm making these things up and riding Jacob's cawk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif. I'm not affiliated with Sundown or Team Sundown in any way, this is just personal experience.
