well the answer to your impedance question is the coils are measured resistance as a sealed box creates pressure there is more resistance against them that is transferred through the coils to the amp that will cause the ohm load to rise or get higher as you play them (to an extent it will rise) put a dmm on the amp while playing music and you will see that the 2 ohms will get more 4 ohms maybe more that will cause the amp to produce less watts...I hope i explained that good thats how i understand it anyway...

 
i say, even though i hate doing it myself, pull the subs out and make sure the wiring is still like it should. could be that a wire just isn't making good contact.
