Sundown SA-8 v.2 vs other 10's and 12's

It's been awhile, but I have decided to put a stereo in my daily driver. I am not looking to go crazy, just want to add something nice that makes my ride somewhat enjoyable. I have a 1990 Civic Hatch. I bought a set of the Sundown SA-6 components and have a PPI BK340.4 for them. As for the sub i would like to keep the enclosure small as I can so I don't lose trunk space w/ the seats up. I will use a PPI BK650.1D for the sub. The question is ... Do these SA-8's keep up w/ 10's and 12's? Would have the box built to Sundown's specs on their website. I know i could do better w/ the amps, but it is what it is ... they are what I am using for now. Maybe could get a BK1300.0D, but figured that might be overkill. I listen to all types of music ... mainly rock, but the kids do the pop/rap thing, so looking to have it sound good w/ all types of music.

Thank you. I plan on having an enclosure designed and built by a local shop. I just wanted to see how they compared to other 10's and 12's. I thought about pos a SA-10, but if the 8's are comparable and save me some space i may go that route.

The box is extremely important for these. Also, they can take a LOT of power. Had mine at double RMS all day. The venting is superb and they are more likely to fail mechanically than thermally. You won't be getting everything out of it with the PPI BK650.1D. I guarantee you turn the gain all the way up (unless your box is huge).

@adulbrich ... Do you think that the BK1300.1 would be a better choice? Again back in the day i didn't care about trunk space and what not. Just an idea what I used to run. I had an A404.2 running my highs and I used an A600.2 to run 3 old school 10x6's. Again i am more concerned w/ space now. So I am looking to keep the box as small as i can.

If you're running 2 SA 8 V2's in a large box, I think the BK1300.1 would be fine. If you tried running both off 650 watts, you would have a bad time...

That being said, I would get two of those if you plan to run in small boxes.

Why are you so stuck on Precision Power?

@adulbrich ... LOL. That's what I used to use. It also helped that a friend owned a car audio shop so i got some deals. I have the BK340.4 on it's way and the only reason I went w/ it is because of the price. They seem to get decent reviews so I figured I would give it a shot. What can I lose. As for the BK1300.1 i figured I would keep with the BK series. But if i could find a nice used Sundown amp I might consider that. Right now it's more about price. Would the 650 be good for just 1 SA-8?

I just figured it may be better to go NIB and see how it goes. Like I said I am not looking to do anything crazy and I am sure the SA-6's running off the BK340 will sound way better than the blown Sony Explodes in the door now ... lol! As for the subs, they will come a little later. I am just trying to decide which direction to go. I am thinking 2 SA-8's running off a BK1300.1 might work fine for what I am looking to do.

In comparison ... i put a Memphis 12 in a prefabed ported box in my wifes car. It's running of a Kenwood X500-1. It sounds good to me, so if I can get 2 8's to sound like that I will be happy.
