I'd bet on the sundown given they're a little underrated, I've seen birthsheets of 1700+ on them, don't expect more than 1600 out of the hifonics

no, it's just like JL. They overprice their stuff and you can get other stuff with great quality for half the price.

Depends what's important to you, sundown has outstanding customer service and reliability, hifonics is just average in those categories. The sundown is a better quality amp, but if all you care about it making 1.5-1.6k watts, imo its worth it to save the money and go with the hifonics. I'm loving mine, and the new 08 ones are supposedly even better.
