anyone have an opinion, im giving more towards the spl, but i havent had a really nice amp yet either....so that might make a difference

They were designed as an SPL woofer but they also sound quite good daily - you can find quite a few customer reviews on here to that effect.

yeah if you want spl tune it high, if you want a daily sub, tune it low. those subs can take some serious power

i have a fi q 18 also and it of course doesnt hit as loud as this does but it had better sq, even in my shitty box, then again that could be that i had a memphis pr 1000 powering it and not an mtx
