Sundown Nightshade 18'' wedge box

Well im putting the NS in my single cab truck and wanted to do a wedge box with aeros. I was thinking of having the aeros firing upward. I dont know much about designing box at ALL, so hopefully someone can design one for me please //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif I plan on removing the back track seat belt thing, and that will give me a couple more inchs of depth. I also can remove my middle seat as well if needed. I would rather not though.

Anyways...I threw in the old box I had that I found in my garage that was:

10.5'' top depth

14.5'' bottom depth

It fit in with the seat belt track in the way, but the subwoofer hole was pretty close to my middle seat. If I got acouple more inchs from taking the seat belt track out it would've fit good. I think the best thing would be the have the sub cutout hole behind one of the passenger/driver seats so it would have room and not hit the middle seat.

Here are my approx max dimensions:

5ft across

12'' width (straight up and down, will have more with a slant) with retaining comfortable driver/passenger room

24''+ height to window line (can go above, dont really care about it)

I dont know what exacally my box needs to be, but I think 5 cubes is enough. I want to in the loww 30's (30-34). I can do slot port, but I dont think thats possible with a wedge box, idk though.

If any good designers out there would like to help me out id really appreciate it!

Thanks

If the pole venting is a problem, you can set it up to have a couple of inches going up at the bottom, and then having the slant start

If its simple enough I may attempt to build it myself.

58.5'' wide x 22.5'' x 9.75'' td x 11.75 bd (internal dimensions) = a little over 8 cubes roughly. I figured in a double baffle for the front so the external dimensions would be 60'' wide x 24'' tall x 12'' td x 14'' bd. Tweak the top and bottom depths to your liking but make sure they are deep enough to still fit the sub in there.

Also, I always liked having the sub behind the passenger side and the aero ports on the far edge closest to the drivers side firing up.

I see.. how many cubes is that box?

What is a good size box for an 18'' NS and how much port area? And what size aeros do I need?

That was for a single 10'' and it was I think 1.6 or 1.7 after displacements.

1.) Figure out what size box you want to use

2.) Tweak the dimensions until you get the desired volume

3.) Find out the outside dimensions for the aeroports you are going to use and make sure they'll mount correctly on the side of the box you plan to have them firing out of

I would think 4-4'' aeros would be good but aeros get expensive when using multiples. Maybe 2-6'' or a single 8'' from amartin. Ask amartin what the OD is of the 8'' and design your box around the aeroport.

Well does an 8'' aero mean I need about 9in to work with if im firing them out the top? Id rather save as much space as possible.

It depends on the outside dimension of the mounting flare, that's something you'd have to ask him to measure for you.

Can you slot port a wedge box?
Yep. Just put it off to the side (like where my aeroports were). The DD example also has a slot port.

oh alright thanks. I dont think I want to do aeros beacuse i plan on getting this done pretty soon and shipping will take forever with the holiday season. Will the port to the side still be loud, or will I regret it? That picture of the DD box doesnt look very detailed on the port. For a slot port on a wedge you dont have to make the port angled? just straight?

You could still have a slot port firing up. I'm bored right now so I'll put something together for you in sketchup to give you an idea.
