Sundown HELP

Initially I am suspecting a tweeter protection circuit in the crossover - this could explain the muffled sound and why it corrects itself.

As for running so hot you can't touch it - that would lead me to a bad ground first and foremost.

im thinking that he is trying to run his comps bridged, and he said his comps are showing a 3 ohm load and when birdged i believe it is only stable at 4 ohms. pair that with a high gain and that would cause the hotness.

btw he got the amp from me, and the amp is in mint condition so there is nothing wrong with the amp. i wish i still had it

so thats why you bought my 100.2

So i spent some time turning the gains down and re tuning the amp. I ran it hard on a long drive i had today and the amp was barely warm to my touch. After some re-tuning through the head unit everything sounds crystal clear and loud for now. The only thing is that the gains are barely 25% of the way up, and it screams, this amp has way too much power for me. No more cutting out, and no more hot amp! I didnt realize how powerful this thing is. i turned the gains down enough to make me want louder but until i get better at this 4 channel shit, it will have to do.

This is my first time hooking up a 4 channel amp to any system. I can see that i have a lot of learning to do. If anyone local (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif blackbonnie) would be willing to help me out i would greatly appreciate it! lmao, hopefully just a few more minor tunings will finish it out. THanks for the help

i just picked up a sundown 100.2 but ive been trying to trade it plus cash for a 100.4 so i can get some more power and run it bridged. but just keep me updated if you wanna meet up.

Yeah its important to set your gains on a speaker amp as it is for a sub amp

I used a 2khz 0db Test tone (unplug your speakers) and turn your hu to where you set your subs at (or highest point before clipping) then use a DMM to set your voltages (same formula for subs)

Voltage=Sqrt(Watts x Ohms)

Also it doesnt matter where your gain is at (as far as the knob location) just along as you are getting the correct voltage out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
