I posted on here a couple weeks ago that my sundown 3000 was going in and out of protect..I assumed it was the ring terminals that go to my back battery because I use a bolt cutter to crimp them and one of the wires actually felll out of the terminal..So I bought 4 Set Screw ring terminals..Changed all of them and still the same result. I am really running out of ideas..It worked fine for a good month until I decided to flip the box the other way..I was thinking about replacing the ground wire but im not even sure if that would help..I have turned the gains all the way down and it still goes in and out..Anymore suggestions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If you had a wire loose for a long time before it fell out it is possible you exposed the amp to low voltage for that time period and may have damaged it. Does it just stay in protect or does it come out at all ?

It comes in and out all the time..sometimes if I mess with the wires..I can get it to stay on for like 10 minutes or longer..There are times when it plays fine for several minutes and sometimes when I start it, it will go straight into protect.

Sounds like a wiring issue. I would check and recheck every wire and connection. Verify voltage at both ends of both wires.

Well I put in my cousin's AQ2200 and it worked fine. Could it still be a voltage issue if I have the gains all the way down on the Sundown? Could the battery possibly be at a lower voltage from playing it the last month and now it doesnt have enough juice?

Do you have another 3000w Amp chillling around? There is a good chance it may be wiring. Sundown amps sometimes go into protect if they are cold. Its doesn't mean its damaged or anything. It just happens. I would just call jacob directly and I am sure he will help you out.

Going into protect when cold is news to me... Perhaps at 1/4 ohm on a burp but not under normal conditions.

In any event... one other thing to try, take off the bottom cover and see if it works normally. If so then a part may be shorting to the bottom cover periodically.

I took off the bottom cover with no such luck..I looked at the internals and I didnt see anything burned..But yet again I wouldnt really know what to look for...would internal pictures help?
