Sundown 1500 cooking my RCA's!

I dont get this,I have had a Alpine 9886 hooked up to a 1500d for a while now and tonight all of a sudden I here a pop come from my subs,pulled over to see what the problem was, the amp was in protect and a minite later the car fills up with smoke.I notice my rca's are melting and smoking WTF?Quikely turn off the car and disconnect the power to the sundown.I have down countless installs and know its not an install error and has been hooked up for almost a year with no problems.Anybody have any ideas of what it could be?or maybe just the amps time to go huh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Possibly a bad ground and it tried to ground through the RCA cable.

Sounds like you had a bad ground to the amp and the RCA's turned into the lowest resistance ground. Check your ground and see what it's like.

that ,or you used the wire that is running with the rca's for a remote wire and it shorted somewhere.????

I have the ground mated with the main body in the trunk.Maybe it got a little rusty over time,I will give it a inspection tomorrow
