Well.. Here is another Type R thread... Hate me if you want but I have some questions. First off, I have some crap subs in right now and its not even worth having them that's how bad they are. I've made quite a bit of money over the winter and I am willing to spend it to make my sub stage better.

I've come to the conclusion that I was to get the type R's. Good for the price and pretty much what I am looking for. I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue so it isn't that HUGE of a trunk to work with but there is space. I'm pretty sure I want to pick up 2 12's and put them in a ~4 cube box tuned around 33-35hz. Can they handle 1100 watts RMS? If so should I pick up the hifonics BXI 1610 or 1210? I would pick up the 4 ohm ones and wire them down to two ohms. Is this good? Or can I do better for the same price?

Edit: Err i meant for this to go into General Discussion but I guess it also works here.

Edit #2: After reading the OTHER R thread that happened to be right above this one I answered my own question about how much they can take.

i had my pair of 12s running off a hifonics 2008D , get the dual 4 and wire to 1 ohm.

Get the bigger amp and just be nice on thegains and set the f-er with a DMM.

Yea, 2 Alpine Type R 12's in a 4.0 cb ft box port tuned between 32-35 hertz with 1000+ wrms will sound just fine.

The Hifonics 1610 is a decent amp, its fully capable of pushing those Type R's just fine.
