Suggestions with mids

I recently talked to image dynamics about my mid that stopped working and they gave me a 130 quote for a recone, which is pretty ridiculous for a 6.5 inch recone but whatever. I was wondering if I would be fine running the AA poly mids off of the image dynamics crossovers with the nx-30 tweets. They handle the same power as the cxs4's and should be pretty identical and output so i think they would be fine, but i would like to know if there is anything im looking over. I would much rather spend 80 bucks on two new mids than 130 on getting one reconed.

how are you going to cross your speakers? i see that you have an 8445 which doesn't have a built in crossover. As a suggestion i suggest the Dayton RS180 4 ohm debucked version. partsexpress sell them for $32 a mid. Cheaper than than the AA (not by much but still //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif) and have been getting great reviews every where it has been tested.

yea it kinda sucks that I cant go active with my hu because ive been wanting to try it out. I cant find any crossover points for the crossover that came with the chameleon set. I checked id's website and there wasnt anything there.

Don't worry the AA's will be ble to handle. They don't have any break-up till nearly 5k //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. Much better than I can say about the Daytons. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

awesome thanks for the help. im goin to order them whenever i can round up the money. ngsm how far are you from northern ky? I am visiting a friend up there soon and would like to hear an mt sometime.

true daytons don't break up until about 2khz but i dunno how i don't really want my mids playing that high anyways. actually i would try out the AA mids but mounting depth is too freakin big.

anyways, first find out how you are going to cross your speakers first. maybe you can use a combination of your HU and amp to cross them.

well i still have the crossover from the chameleon set so i was just planning on using them for now. i know what you mean with the mounting depth...i drive a honda prelude and fitting something as deep as those is challenging with glassin

They're not that deep, really. Use a .75" MDF ring spacer.

The ID's are HUGE. The AA's use a VERY SMALL neo motor.

I have both of them in my posession currently except it's the CX62's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
