suggestions wanted!!

hey, im totaly new to the whole car stereo world but i just got my first car, a 98' blazer, that i bought from my cousin. its in amazingly good condition but i would like to up the sound system in it. My cousin has done a little work to it, he put 2 10' subs and a 300 watt amp (both jensen) and an XPLOD cdx-cab10x head unit (which i cant find anything about online) but *it* decides whether it wants to work or not. so if i could get some ideas on sme things that would make my car sound good and look good, thanks in advance for any ideas.

p.s. im 15 and have a steady job but im not rich by any means, and i like rock music so idk if that helps but i would like my system centered around making rock sound good.

welcome,first thing is how much do you have to spend on everything,,we need a amount so we know what to and what not to look at..you mentioned you dont have alot so i'll assume for this posts sake its $1000..

you can do alot with that especially on ebay..for subs id changew those jensen or sell them for gas money(lol) so for subs id look into some diamond audio d6,alpine type r's,or one of the new companies called fi the maker used to work for re so you know your gona get top of the line stuff..heres what i would do with $1000

this is just something i put together in 5 minutes so it just lets you know you can still get good stuff you dont have to spend thousands and thousands..but if i had $1k this is along the lines of what id go with..

Welcome to the forum! First of all, if you want to have a good sounding system, I would sugest that you take your time and do some homework. You can get alot of help on this forum, but try to be patient. Listen to different speakers and find out what sounds good to your ears. A good solid head unit is the place to start. You build your system from there. The above post head unit is a nice one, but its on e-bay so there is a element of risk with that. In most cases it ok to buy online, it is still a risk. You can go cheaper with the sub or subs depending on what you are looking for. A 12' audio assasin 90 bucks, Alpine 12' type E 75 bucks. Not world class but either are solid for the money. Also look to spend more money and effort in creating a solid front stage. Componants are very nice but you will pay more for them. You can get nice coaxles for less money CDT, Rainbow, Polk Audio to name a few. You will want to have eveything amped. do your homework, and dont rush your decision, EBAY CAN BE YOUR FRIEND...if you check out my lastest thread for pics, i have an alpine type R 15 in a ported box, along with a Lanzar Opti 1400 D, for sub,box, and amp i only spent $300

plus everyone here can be very helpful when making ur decision
