+1 I tested mine today. Sundown 1500 putting 800w at 2 ohm with just upgraded bat ground and I got from 14.08 to 13.8ish you shouldnt be getting that hard of a drop.Is your truck running ? If so you should have 14.5 volts when running with nothing else on . Sounds like your alt. is not putting out . Time for a new one .
I heard that if you add a second battery then you are adding extra strain on your alt and may kill the diodes (even with a split charge relay). Im not saying this is true its just what i've heard; what do you guys think?
How many times does it have to be said....your stock alt wont even charge your red top over 13 so why add more strain? You need a high output alt.I have a Redtop Optima now would adding a kinetik hk1400 be enough?
get your electrical looked at at a autozone or pep boys for free. stock electrical should be able to handle 1200 watts if it is 100 amps +. they can make sure your regulator and battery are ok too.my current setup is 2 12" l5 kickers powered by a 1200.1 Kicker amp and i was wondering what you guys recommend for wire size going from bat to amp i have 1/0 on there now and wondering if i'm losing power its about a 15ft run
(i have done the big 3 and i still have pretty large voltage drops)
and to my knowledge the stock alt is 100/105
if one of the batteries is dead.....I heard that if you add a second battery then you are adding extra strain on your alt and may kill the diodes (even with a split charge relay). Im not saying this is true its just what i've heard; what do you guys think?
