suggestions on shallow mount subs?

so at one point i did do a fiberglassed spare tire sub box for 4 L5 12's

it was loud as hell, but didnt sound all that great, most likely due to airspace. i only have about 3.5 cubes before displacement. im thinking about doing another box like this, but with shallow mounts, so i dont have to invert them.

are there any shallow mount 12's that dont sound like ***, can take 500+ watts, and can take less than 1cu ft of airspace?

there are. price comes into question though. on the cheap, you could do 4 of the pioneer shallow mounts, and be under 3.5 cubes ported. i've done a couple of single cab trucks with pioneers. not too bad for cheap. jl tw5 is an obvious choice for a more expensive setup. it would sound good though. 4 tang band neo 10 shallows might be nice. never worked with those though. they model up in winisd pretty good though. looks like it might sound darn nice ported or sealed.

I run 2 Pioneer shallow 10's. I like them for how cheap they are. Sound really tight in a sealed box. Havent tried em in a ported yet..

Ive heard for the coin, the JL's dont sound that much better than any other shallows.

the jl tw5 gets loud, friend has one in a single cab ranger, and has to turn the bass and sub frequencies all the way down on his headunit so the sub doesnt over power the door speakers, door speakers arent amped though. mephis makes a shallow mount RMS is 300 i believe though, RE and Soundstream makes some too, and polk audio MMs are somewhat shallow like 4.5" mount depth or something, i think a lil less.

I know the Soundstreams can go in crazy small boxes and are super deep.

Clarion makes a shallow sub that beat the Pioneers for SQ in the old Car Audio mag, but I've never heard them.
