Suggestions on a new digital camera?

I am looking for a new digital camera for pictures and some video. Lets face I know nothing when it comes to knowing what to look for in a camera. I have had several Kodaks over the years but non of they have been anywhere as good as my very first. Anyways, looking to try a different brand (most likely Canon). What model do you have? Any example of pictures or vids quality? Looking to spend under $250.

the higher the megapixals the better the picture quality.

for videos, make sure it takes HD videos and ur set.

i have a SAMSUNG TL220, amazon has it for $150 :O i spent $300 when it first came out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i have a HD video shot from the camera in my sig.

best advice i can give is, look up the specs of your past cameras and see what the megapixals were, and upgrade. if they were 10, get 12+ MP.

I have a Nikon S8000 it's pretty cool. If you want I'll try and get some pics later so you can see the quality

Just checked out the video in the link and the video quality is really really nice (can't comment on sound as I am on my work computer). My current camera is a Kodak Z915 (10MP) and the screen died (not to mention video quality ******).

ya it takes 720 HD videos. the 12.2 MP would be a step up from ur 10MP. its only $150, but it does have the front lcd that if u probably wont use, u could probably find another camera that does HD videos, 12+MP for cheaper. not sure tho
