I have some focal ps165 components going in my doors and Im trying to find a way to add a 6.5" or 8" midbass driver. Will having them in the same cavity compromise each other or do they need to be sealed off from one another? Im in the process of deadening the doors now and I have some 1/4" abs that Ill use to cover holes. Corning 703 acustic panels will be taped on top of the deadener inside the door behind the window and ensolite on top of the inner door skin. I have some mlv as well, but Im not sure if Ill be able to get it on there. Panel plastic will also be deadened. Im following KHAs writeup on the budget mlv and absorption at home depot thread for my Ford Escape, which is an awesome write up.

Im also looking for model suggestions for the midbass driver that would work well with the focal ps165 set. I was looking at the image dynamics cx64, and peerless sls 6.5" or 8". My amp is an alpine pdx-v9 and Id be sending 100wrms to each driver. Spec sheet included with the amp shows the 4 channels put out 121wrms. Im hoping to work in the 60hz-400hz range but maybe that goes too high for midbass? I listen to a wide range of music, but lately its been reggae, dnb, trap, and some 90s west coast rap. The sub is somewhat undecided, but I have a kicker 6.5" sub with a stock box that will be used in the interim. Any help and advice is much appreciated, this is my first time putting together a system with deadening absorbtion and other various treatments and I want to do it right.

Seal them off. Have the 8 in the door and the 6.5 in a pod. Silverflute 8 or exodus anarchy 8s can do some midbass work. Pwx 8s are quite midbassy as well.
Im holy impressed with the tm65s midbass. They have 9mm of excursion and the mk2 version is on preorder right now. There is a thread somewhere on diyma where Andy (of jbl and owner of audiofrog) talks about the useless of 8in drivers when a 6.5 with high excursion is used. Pair of those in a ported kick or door pods would be nasty

If I decide to do the midbass at a later date would it be a good idea to seal the midrange focal 6.5 now, or is it only desired when the midbass drivers are present? Im measuring and building for future expansion, but I need to get what I got installed now so I can put my interior back together and drive the Escape again, lol.

front doors are subs...fyi Go with AudioControl 6x9 components up front and coaxials in the rear. You will be impressed with just changing to that.

If you can find these in your area. Id recommend these for drop ins. They play from 40Htz on up. Sound very nice on amplified power for premium...
