Suggestions for 700-1000 rms mono @ 4 ohms?

First amp that comes to mind that can give 1000w at 4ohms is the Audiopipe AP30001D. A lot of people have had great results with them. They're actually two AP15001D's strapped together in one case. 1000w @ 4, 2000@2ohm, 3000@1ohm. It's technically a 2 channel amp, so it's not suggested to run the amp @ 1ohm overall since the 2 amps inside would be getting .5ohm, but either way I've heard great things about it. They're going for $275-$300 shipped used, $325 new from eBay.

i'd love to try out a jl 1000/1, but they're a touch more than i want to spend. the audiopipe would work perfectly, except i dont think my electrical system could handle that hog.

i want to say i remember some amplifiers that made their max power at 4 ohms, and werent stable for 1 or 2 ohm mono. they were probably class a/b, like i said, i've been out of it for a while. my problem here is i'm driving a little 4 cylinder dodge stratus, and the electrical system isnt too impressive. i'm not ready to start pouring money into a bigger alternator quite yet, so i'm hoping to find an amp that wont tax the system beyond reason

If you want 1000 watts, there is an overwhelming selection you can choose from that produces that power at 1ohms and won't be hard on your electrical at all. Some ~1000w @ 1ohm amps I can think of off the top of my head are: AQ1200D, SAZ-1000D, DSC1000.1D, etc. Just look around in the F/S section to see what amps are being sold and you'll get a feel for what's popular.

I've tried sae-1000d, xterminator 4000d(us amps "low-end"), rockford bd1000. I liked the sae-1000d the most for its tiny size. the xterminator is overrated at 1600rms at 1 ohm, i read somewhere it will do 1200rms for sure. I have never gotten that amp hot, barley warm enought to know it's one. I think its a good product for the price, less than $200.

I wouldn't mind having an AQ...

I would look into a JL Audio 1000/1 or a 1000/1v2. True 1,000 watts at 4ohm class D mono Amp. Pricey but worth it.
The only downside is touting this amp as Class D if one is thinking they are efficient. Why? Because with the strictly regulated RIPS power supply, this amp has Class AB efficiency and is known to be a current hog!

Just be very lerry of dealing with Memphis Car Audio products... Especially if buying them used off of eBay. Why? Because if something goes wrong with it and you don't have an original receipt from an Authorized dealer, Memphis will not even deal with you! Granted there are some other places that can repair them besides Memphis Car Audio. Sadly that is the chance you take when purchasing through eBay.

I know you said no class a/b but look at the cadence zrs-2002 800@4ohm and it is not a current hog. I have one going to be running it to a pair of hx2 8". And the 2002 can be had nib 160.00 shipped on the bay if there are any left.

I want class D for the efficiency. class a/b would kill my alternator with how much power I want to run.

any opinions on the eclipse amplifier i linked to? Eclipse za1200
