I'm looking around for a set of compression drivers to mate up with horns, 1" throat diameter. The best option for the price I've seen are Radian 475's at PE for $180/ea...anyone else have suggestions for drivers I should be looking at? Perhaps someone has a pair of ID drivers for cheap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

ID's drivers are modified B&C, so I'd just go straight to the source for those. Radians are very nice as well. BMS is known for high quality compression drivers too. Beyma's CP-380 is pretty imfamous as well. Anyway here's a few names.

B&C DE500's

BMS 4552 ND

Radian 475's

Beyma's CP-380

Worse comes to worse, Tad 2001's!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

ID uses modified B&C compression drivers.

I'm picking up a pair at the tent sale @ PartsExpress this year... 20% //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Would you happen to know how they're modded from stock B&C's?

18K extension worries me a bit...and they don't seem to go down as low as the Radians...but then again, those are $160 more for a pair.

I've used the Radian 450s... they come on the back of the 5208 8" coax.

Excellent driver... in my tests, they didn't roll off until 22KHz! Of course, you have to build in "tilt EQ" as in any horn/driver combo (the horn/driver naturally has a "tilted" response dropping at 6 dB/oct. until the ultimate roll-off point up top, where they drop faster), but there's STILL like 95-96 dB sensitivity AFTER the EQ (at 20KHz)!

Regards,

Gordon.

i'm curious which ones will work out well in real life

i have many different id models laying around here etc., but also have very cheap access to the diy yourself stuff and have plans on doing some custom things with that- had planned on tryign the radian's or possibly the baby jbls, but look forward to hearing someone elses experience.

To be honest, I doubt there's any radical changes...

Much like many driver are based off of ScanSpeaks and such...

Anyways, when you put the ID Horn Bodies on... it will drastically change the low side extension...
