want to do the port up and don't know if I should do sub up or forward for spl. any help would be nice.

Hmm... I'm assuming you have the hatchback.

1) I'd do Subs up, port forward

- probably the most infamous style ( CRX Style ).

it's tuned to around 40hz and use it for street beat with 2 15's and a 40.1 I can only get 147.2 out of it in my bug I was doing a 151

Hmm, maybe tune lower ( CRXs usually are tuned higher... as of my knowledge - might be wrong )

... More port area ( bigger port.... different style port )

Instead of L shape, slot, square... use a 6" - 8" circle .....

... just don't limit yourself, or get disappointed cause it didnt do what it did before.

Just cause it hit a 151 in that car, don't mean it'll be the same in another. ( The bug could have peaked @ at 49 ... this car might peak @ 54...

ya i know i have 5 4" psp ports now but think i'll go with a slot port tuned to around 37hz sub and port up box will be 33x37.5x16.75 outside dimentions will start building this afternoon unless someone knows that haveing the subs forward gives a better reading on the mic. Thanks for the help everyone

Well... make it like this!

* My story *

I had the Superbass ported probox for 12s facing the trunk - 139.6 ( Nissan Sentra )

I turned the box around, facing the cabin - 140.7 ( Nissan Sentra )

Bought the Superbass ported probox for L7s ( Modded it for circles - facing the trunk ) - 142.3

I turned the box around, facing the cabin - 144.2

* both were tuned @ ~50hz ... Same style box, just different size *

... Well, I finally built a box - Instead of the port right down the middle, port is on the side, subs facing the trunk. Tuned @ ~48.39 - 146.5

Point - You just gotta play around.

.... I put this setup in my honda ( 146.9 ). and then in my 4 runner ( 145.8 ) * And I thought it was gonna be louder in the SUV... sike

first question...

8 cu ft net, supposed to have 128 sq inches of port area...

have a 136 inches of port area, is that too mutch

3 8'' areo ports

looking to tune it to 37 hz...

sub's forward, port's back.

in a 88 honda civic hatchback

two 15'' AQ hdc3's

wanting more allong the spl.

what do you think the box design should be?

IMO - Question 1: More port area....

IMO - Question 2: You won't know until you do each one with each one....

* subs forward - port up/forward/back/side

* subs up - port up/forward/back/side

* subs back - port up/forward/back side

** I've seen this ** subs side - port foward/back

Draw each one up...

... See which one you like the most

Post pictures, ask for comments on design

... Take whatever comments or advice ( only yours really counts )

what need's to be done is finding th resonent freq of the car. and tuneing the sub to that.
