Suggest some new equipment!

Hey everybody, I got a Sony MEX-DV2000, a set of Alpine Type-R 5 1/4 comps in the front doors, and Alpine Type-R 6X9's in the rear deck. I installed this all in the summer of last year. It was a replacement for my stock system in my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT. It sounds decent, but unfortunately I lost a lot of bass since I bypassed the factory amp and ran my speakers off the HU.

A few months ago my friend gave me a 12" Alpine Type-S and an MTX MXA4001 amp. I finally got around to building a box and installing the sub, but after trying everything possible, I couldn't get any sound out of the sub, leading me to think it's defective.

So now, I think I'm going to get a 2/3/4 channel, get rid of my 6x9s, and get some new comps for the front doors, and a new sub, and run the sub and comps off the new amp.

Since I'm not needing an excessive amount of bass, I'm just going to run the sub off of the 5 channel.

Any suggestions for a 2/3/4 channel amp? Ideally I'd like to be able to get about 300 watts RMS for the sub. I'm thinking of the Hifonics ZXi 6406. If I bridge channels 3 and 4, I can get 340 rms out of it for a sub, and send 170 rms to my front door speakers through channel 1 & 2. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6519_Hifonics+ZXi+6406.html#

Anything similar for the price?

Also, I'm thinking of replacing my 5 1/4 comps with 6.5's. Make a suggestion? Ideally I'd like to be able to get them for under 150 or around that area on sonicelectronix.

As well, suggest a nice 12" sub that sounds good at around 300 RMS, or a bit more. Maybe a P2 or P3? Or a Type-R? Under $150 on sonicelectronix would be nice.

Lastly, do you think sonicelectronix is the cheapest website on the internet for car audio? I live in Canada, so it's a bit annoying with the customs taxes when I ship it across the border, but sometimes I ship to to the states and bring it across the border myself, as they generally don't get you as bad if you walk it across.

Thank you, sorry for the endless list of questions.

woofercooker has a very nice tc-9 based sub in classifieds for 120+ shipping, well worth the purchase. As for comps, my fav are still the RF power series comps.
Ideally I'd like to buy new for warranty and such.

And the RF power comps are the same price as my other choice, the Infinity Kappa 6.5 comps. Any idea on what the top mount depth is for the RF's?

its on RF's website I'm sure. Woofercooker stands by his subs, especially since he builds them himself. It'll be better for the money than any in the same price point from sonic (and I love sonic pricing and products so no bias)
