Sudden loss of sound...

I installed my new pioneer gm-510d amp today. Had it working fine all day. I had the car parked for a few hours then just now I was goin out to listen to it. I pulled out of the driveway with the volume turned down and as I got down the street I turned the volume up slowly on three six mafia - late night tip. 30 seconds in the bass hit and it did one sequence. It was about to repeat the bass sequence again at about 40seconds in when all of a sudden all my speakers just cut out completely with no damaging sound.

My head still had power and showed it was still playing the song. I checked all my related fuses all were fine. Wtf happened I cant get sound back.

My front and rear speakers are running off a different amp than my sub btw. Neither will power up.

well my first guess would be the fuses, so you say you checked fuse under the hood, fuses on the amp, and if you have on the fuse on the distro block? were the amp power lights still on when no sound was coming out?

well then i would check all the power connections: at the amp, distroblock, and battery.

EDIT: did any magic smoke come out of the amps or did you smell anything funny?and the only other thing i can think of is that under the hood the power wire melted or something

get out your DMM and start verifying correct voltage and ground at the amp, check the remote wire for power too. If you don't have a DMM and still want to do your own installs, you should go buy one right now.

you may have the same problem i have now, your remote wire probably sent a negative current to your head unit kicking the ability to produce the sound out the window. you may need to get a new head unit. mine is doing the same exact thing, it says its playing but there is no sound, all my fuses are right and everything, my guess try a different head unit

How the hell did that happen?

Get a dmm, see if you get good voltage out of the power wire and remote wire near the amps......

Sounds like a wiring problem of some sort.
