I had plans for a 3-way system including koda 8's in the doors as midbass. the more i read around and such, i realized that you dont need much midbass when listening to rap and such. So i was wondering, would it be an alright idea to install Re 8's in the doors as subwoofers and then just components in the kicks.

thanks

The big reason you don't need much midbass in rap is that most folks listening to rap like the sound of booming trunks, so they cross their subs over pretty high (I have seen people running 12s up to 200 Hz). The folks looking for SQ on Sheffield Drive want to crossover their subs as low as possible to try and pull the bass into the front soundstage, so they need midbasses up front. When engineers are working on rap albums they typically assume you are running the old school 15s with horns in the back so the important thing with rap is big subs and hot tweets. I would not go with 8s in the doors for rap.

just my 2 pence
